SADC TFCA Financing Facility Model

WHAT WE DO

SADC TFCA Financing Facility funds are channelled to TFCAs through a re-granting programme managed by IUCN. Our re-granting programme is intended to be flexible and demand-driven, through Calls for Proposals as well as Direct Awards for specific landscapes, as needed.
Government Agencies responsible for conservation, Non-Governmental Organisations and Community-Based organisation (CBOs), with proven experience in implementing projects in TFCAS, are eligible to apply for funding.
Our grants are intended to support the implementation of existing plans as much as possible and thereby contribute to the overall attainment of strategic goals for TFCAs
Concept Notes, Proposals and Project Implementation must comply with the SADC TFCA FF Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS), to minimise environmental and social risks. The ESMS also provides guidelines for upholding human rights in the context of conservation and development, with guidance for steps to be followed for mitigation of risks.

Thematic Focus Areas

thematic focus 1

The SADC TFCA Financing Facility  will address the critical needs for conservation by integrating the three dimensions of Species, Habitat and People, and aligning with the overall socio-economic development and regional integration goals of SADC. Applications should therefore address one of the main expected outcomes of the SADC TFCA FF described as follows:

  • Improved habitat connectivity, for selected key migratory species (Species dimension)
  • Improved management effectiveness of TFCAs and PAs (Habitat dimension)
  • Improved livelihoods for communities affected by human-wildlife co-habitation (People dimension)
